St Marks Portadown welcome ‘New Irish Arts’ in celebration of 200th anniversary

St Mark’s Church, Portadown, is preparing for a major milestone in its history as 2026 will mark 200 years since the church was built in the centre of the town.

To begin the journey toward this bicentenary, the church is hosting a special concert on Saturday September 27, at 7.30pm, featuring musicians from the New Irish Choir and Orchestra.

The evening promises an uplifting programme of music, bringing world-class choral and orchestral sound to the heart of Portadown.

The concert is one of many events being planned in the lead-up to the bicentenary, which will include music, community activities, and heritage projects celebrating St Mark’s as a landmark building and spiritual home in the town for two centuries.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “As we look forward to marking 200 years of St Mark’s in 2026, it is important to celebrate not only the history of the building but also its ongoing place in the life of Portadown today.

“Welcoming New Irish Arts is a fitting way to begin this journey.”

The New Irish Choir and Orchestra is widely admired for its inspiring performances and is expected to draw audiences from across the region.

Tickets priced at £20 can be purchased via Eventbrite here.
