Son appeals for help after van crashed into dad’s car and driver fled scene on foot

A Portadown man has appealed for information after someone crashed into his father’s car and then ran from the scene.

The incident happened in the Atkinson Avenue area of the town at around 5.55am today (Thursday).

The culprit was driving a van – which bore a company logo – and they left it at the scene and fled on foot.

“Police have taken the van away,” said the man’s son. “Dad’s car has been written off.”

Police, meanwhile, have confirmed they had received and responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision.

And they appealing for information.

A spokesperson told Armagh I : “There were no reports of any injuries, however damage was caused to both vehicles.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident, and police would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened, or who may have any dash cam footage, or information which might assist, to get in touch.

“The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 244 of 16/06/23.”
