A Co. Armagh man has been remanded on bail in relation to a number of charges including sexual assault and false imprisonment which allegedly occurred last month.

Jamie Simpson (24) from Clanbrassil Avenue, Portadown, is accused of causing a female actual bodily harm on July 31 as well as sexually touching her and unlawfully and injuriously detaining her against her will.

A police officer aware of the facts told Craigavon Magistrates Court all charges could be connected.

No details surrounding the circumstances of the alleged incident were disclosed during a short hearing.

As part of bail conditions Simpson is not to attempt to see, speak to or in any other way contact the injured party either directly or indirectly.

He is also not to be under the influence of alcohol nor enter licensed premises and is excluded from entering a number of areas.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan ordered Simpson to return to court on September 25.
