One of NI’s best known actors has been bereaved following the sad passing of his mother.
Barbara Dormer, from Portadown, passed away peacefully at Lisadian House nursing home in Hillsborough, on Sunday, February 25.
She had three children; Michelle, Paul and Richard.
Richard Dormer would be a familiar face for TV fans, having recently played fan-favourite Gerry in the hit BBC show ‘Blue Lights’. He is also well-known for his roles as Beric Dondarrion in the HBO television series ‘Game of Thrones’ and Dan Anderssen in Sky Atlantic’s ‘Fortitude’.
Earlier in his career, Richard starred as Alex Higgins in the stage production of ‘Hurricane’ and played the lead role in the Terry Hooley biopic, ‘Good Vibrations’, which also starred Keady-born actor Michael Hughes, who goes by the stage name Michael Colgan. He also starred in the feature film ‘Middletown’ written by Armagh playright Daragh Carville, which went on to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in 2006.
Barbara was the wife of Roger, who sang for the Queen at her Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012, and she was also the dearly loved grandmother of Rebecca, Amber, Hannah and Aimile.
A funeral service will take place in Malcomsons Funeral Home in Lurgan on Monday, March 4 at 10.45am followed by a private cremation.
Family and friends are welcome to share their condolences in Malcomsons Funeral Home on Sunday, March 3, between 5pm and 7pm.
