Portadown’s Country Comes to Town postponed in light of Queen’s death

Country Comes to Town

The annual Country Comes to Town event in Portadown due to take place next week has been postponed, the organisers have announced.

The event, which was due to take place next Saturday (September 17), has been put back “following the sad news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II”, the team announced on social media.

Thousands of people descend on the Co Armagh town for the annual showcase which is now currently being considered for Saturday, October 8.

Meanwhile, the Lord Mayor, Councillor Paul Greenfield, said that as an expression of sadness and respect at the passing of our late Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth the Second, flags at the Council’s three main administrative buildings will be flown at half-mast until the day after Her Majesty’s funeral.

Council buildings will also be illuminated deep purple for this period of time.
