A Portadown charity-operated roller rink have thanked emergency services following a sudden death at their premises.
The Rink – based on the Derryneskan Road – cancelled all sessions yesterday afternoon (January 1) following a “medical emergency”.
Today, they have regrettably announced the death of a member of their roller hockey community.
Via a post on social media, the organisation run by Love Hockey Ireland said: “Unfortunately, yesterday a member of our roller hockey community suffered a medical emergency following a game.
“We sincerely want to thank the nurse and doctor in attendance who responded immediately, his teammates, our staff and all those who acted quickly to try and help.
“Our defibrillator was used and an ambulance arrived rapidly, but sadly he has passed away.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and teammates at this very difficult time.”
The community venue have also changed their company logo to a black and white version of the original.
