A Portadown playgroup are asking for public support as they work to relocate to a new premises.
Peatlands Playgroup – formerly based on the Clonmakate Road – has been at the heart of their community for years, providing a “safe, nurturing and fun environment for young children to learn, grow and make lifelong friends”.
Recently, however, the playgroup have faced a “crucial challenge”, explaining that their current location is “no longer sustainable”.
As a result – and to allow the playgroup to continue to provide early years education and care – they have had to secure a new premises.
To help facilitate the move which comes with “significant costs”, including rent, renovations, equipment, furniture, relocation and set up costs, the playgroup have launched a fundraising effort with a £15,000 target.
Having created a GoFundMe page to assist their efforts, the education centre explains: “Peatlands Playgroup is more than just a playgroup—it’s a place where children build confidence, families form lasting connections and our local community thrives.
“Without a new space, we risk losing this invaluable resource that so many depend on.”
By supporting their fundraiser, the playgroup say you will help ensure that “local families continue to have access to affordable, high-quality early childhood education, children can learn and play in a safe and stimulating environment and our dedicated staff can continue their amazing work with the next generation”.
It is understood that the playgroup hope to start the new school year in September from their new premises with further details on this to be provided at a later date.
