Man, 40, charged with double murder of elderly Portadown couple

The 40-year-old will appear in court on Tuesday morning

A 40-year-old man has been charged with the double murder of an elderly couple in Portadown.

Portadown couple Michael and Marjorie Cawdery, both 83, were found dead by their daughter-in-law at the house in Upper Ramone Park.

Tonight, detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch have charged a 40-year-old man with a number of offences including two counts of murder, aggravated burglary and aggravated vehicle-taking.

He is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Tuesday 30 May.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
