A Portadown man has appeared in court following an incident which saw a “child protection” group turn up at his door on Friday afternoon.
Kevin Christy, of Park Road, appeared at a special sitting of Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning.
The day before, the incident which led to his arrest, was streamed on social media, resulting in a large crowd turning up at the property.
The 40-year-old was subsequently charged with attempted sexual communication with a child on dates between May 12 and September 29, last year.
He is also charged with improper use of the public electronic communications network on the same dates.
While the defendant was remanded into custody at Maghberry, District Judge Marshall did consent to Christy being released on bail.
The case was adjourned until Friday, April 19 in Craigavon Magistrates’ Court.
