A Portadown man has been fined £250 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Aivars Guds, 37, of Kernan Hill Manor, appeared before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court, charged with driving with excess alcohol in breath.
Guds appeared in the dock, without representation from a solicitor.
The Prosecution outlined that on May 28 of this year, on Bridge Street in Portadown, police observed a car driving in an erratic manner, with the vehicle driving at excessive speed and braking suddenly after being spotted by police.
The car was stopped and police noted a smell of alcohol present in the vehicle.
The defendant was arrested following a breath sample which exceeded the legal alcohol limit when driving.
District Judge Bernie Kelly imposed a fine of £250, along with the offender levy of £15, to be paid within four weeks. Guds was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
