Police release description of woman involved in car park incident

Police have released a description of the female that apparently targeted a county Armagh as she sat alone in her car last night.

The woman is described as being around 5ft 4in tall, of slim build. She was wearing a dark hoody and blue jeans.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police in Portadown received a report of suspicious activity in Magowan Car Park on Thursday evening, November 5.

“It was reported that a female attempted to get into a vehicle and, when this failed, attempted to open a back door in the car.

“It was unclear if the female had criminal intent or required help.

“Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or has information. They can be contacted in Portadown on 101, quoting ref: 928 051115.”

Estate Agent Libby, via Facebook, explained: “A woman approached the car and signalled for me to put down my window. I locked the car instead.

“She walked past my car, and just as I finished my call she went round back and tried to open rear off side door.

“I put my hand on the horn and she went away to a group nearby.

“I called police, then drove out through the second car park. Her friend was trying to get into another car. Now there’s no way they were up to any good, and they only went to cars with lone women drivers. Were they lining up to steal my car? Who knows, but be vigilant.”

The well-known local woman has described the person who attempted to open the door as having blonde hair and a ponytail, and she believes that two other men standing nearby could have been associated with the incident.
