Defendant due back in court next month to be sentenced

Craigavon Courthouse

A man who made a false report to police must wait until next month to learn his fate.

The district judge told the 29-year-old: “You just can’t do that.”

Vynautas Gineika, of Granville Road, Portadown pleaded guilty to wasting police time, failing to report an accident and careless driving at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Upon hearing the charges, District Judge Bernie Kelly stated: “I’m going to need a pre-sentence report for that first charge, for you just can’t do that.”

Gineika, who represented himself, told court that he had lost the plastic component of his licence at the time of the accident.

District Judge Kelly warned the defendant: “You have four weeks to find it or get a duplicate.

“Without your licence, you will have to be disqualified.”

Gineika must return to court on June 5 for sentencing.
