Man charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment in Portadown at the weekend

He will appear before Craigavon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday

A man has been charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment after an incident in Portadown on Sunday morning.

The 30-year-old had been arrested – and subsequently charged tonight (Monday) – by detectives from PSNI’s Criminal Investigation Branch.

They had been investigating an incident in the Kensington Park area of Portadown.

The man arrested is expected to appear before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Detective Inspector Darren Handley said: “We recently appealed to anyone with information about this incident to come forward, and I’m keen to thank those members of the pubic who responded.

“Such cooperation is invaluable as we work to keep people safe.”
