Man charged following two racially-motivated assaults in Portadown

A man is to appear in court next month following two assaults in Portadown.

The 42-year-old man has been charged with two counts of common assault, which police are treating as racially motivated.

He is due to appear at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, December 4.

The charges are in relation to two reports of common assault that took place on Saturday, October 5 and Thursday, October 17 in the Portadown area.

Both incidents are being treated as racially-motivated hate crimes.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
