Man accused of causing GBI by careless driving to face Crown Court

He was released on his own bail of £500 to appear before Newry Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

Armagh Magistrates' Court

A Bessbrook man accused of causing grievous bodily injury to another male due to the nature of his driving has heard he will face Crown Court proceedings.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on the Tandragee Road, Portadown, in March of last year.

Pol McMillan, 29, of John F Kennedy Park, appeared charged with causing grievous bodily injury by careless driving at Armagh Magistrates, sitting at Newry, on Tuesday.

As the charges were read out, it was outlined that the alleged offence occurred on March 6, of last year, on the Tandragee Road in Portadown.

Appearing via videolink from his solicitor’s office, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.

Prosecution submitted that based on the papers before the court there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence solicitor Chris Logue made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Eamon King said that he was satisfied there was a prima facie case to answer.

McMillan was released on his own bail of £500 to appear before Newry Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
