Jail sentence for man who stole £96 worth of ‘Bold’ washing pods

A man with a record for similar offences has been jailed for staling eight bags of ‘Bold’ washing pods worth £96 from a shop in Portadown.

Gerald Brampton-Wood (40), of Garvaghy Park in the town, committed the shoplifting offence on January 7 this year.

He appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday via video link from prison.

The defendant had 151 previous convictions which a defence lawyer accepted was “appalling”.

He said the defendant had been stealing to fund an addiction.

The defendant has now received a four months prison term.
