Jail for woman who smashed Lidl shop window with trolley

She also kicked doors a number of times at Home Bargains and B&M Bargains and the incidents were caught on CCTV

A woman who used a trolley to shatter a window of a Lidl shop in Portadown in the early hours has been jailed.

She caused criminal damage to Lidl and attempted to cause criminal damage at B&M Bargains and Home Bargains nearby.

Rachel Sherry (35), with an address listed as Clanmorris Street in Belfast, appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday via video link from prison.

The charges relate to November 13 last year and she pleaded guilty.

The defendant kicked doors a number of times at Home Bargains and B&M Bargains and the incidents were caught on CCTV.

A defence lawyer said there was “no excuse” for what happened but alcohol has been an issue.

He said there was an invoice for a window at Lidl for £926.

He said the defendant is “particularly vulnerable” and had spent time in custody on remand.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan jailed the defendant for six months.
