In pictures: Thousands turn out for Portadown Christmas Light switch on

Christmas festivities kicked off in style last Friday night at the ever-popular Christmas lights switch on in Portadown – with over 3,000 people enjoying the Christmas cheer!

The weather did little to dampen the Christmas spirit, as school choirs, local bands, drama groups, singing princesses, face painters, balloon modellers, fire performers and Christmas characters kept everyone entertained!

While the stunningly festive twilight market offered creative crafts and fabulous foods for everyone to delight in.

The brilliant Ryan Tracey, semi-finalist in Britain’s Got Talent 2017, compered the event and there were shrieks of joy when Santa Claus and Mrs Claus arrived in a beautiful horse drawn carriage to switch the lights on!

Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Councillor Mealla Campbell said, “The switch on was a fantastic success and it was wonderful to see so many people all wrapped up in their hats and scarves enjoying the night.

“The atmosphere was so festive and fun and it was the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of the festive season in Portadown.”
