Free food on the menu at Portadown chippy intent on doing good

A Portadown chippy is giving back to their local community by giving away free food for one hour every Friday.

Danny’s Chippy & Kebab – based on Park Road – has launched the initiative after taking inspiration from popular eatery Belfast Breakfast Baps, who in recent weeks have given away hundreds of baps to the homeless in Belfast.

Inspired to give back to their own community, Danny’s Chippy launched their own scheme last Friday (March 6).

The offer is available every Friday between 4-5pm and they will be giving away free bacon and sausage baps.

No purchase is needed, simply pop in, say hello and grab a bap!

The chipper said they have a goal of helping 40 people in the community every week.

Said the man with the plan, Danny: “I hope to be able to keep doing this every week. It’s just about giving back to the community and ensuring people who could do with a warm meal can get one and not have to worry about the money.”

The offer is open to all members of public with a keen interest on giving back to those who need it most.

Danny’s Chippy are also asking for those in the position to join in on the good work.

You can help support the free meal initiative by signing up for sponsorship… the more sponsors they have, the more they are able to provide regular free meals to the community!
