Organisers of a planned ‘Drumcree family support event’ have made the decision to postpone due to the weather.
But the Loyalist Edgarstown Bonfire group has said planned speeches will still go ahead at Shillington’s Bridge in Portadown at 7pm.
The support event – with three bands, Portadown Defenders, Portadown True Blues and Markethill Volunteers Flute – had been scheduled to take place at 6pm tonight (Tuesday) on the site of the bonfire within the Edgarstown estate.
Now, it is intended that it will take place instead tomorrow night (Wednesday).
Providing an update on Tuesday afternoon, LEB confirmed: “Due to inclement weather and concern for the large number of our young people due to attend, a collective decision has been taken to postpone this evenings family fun day at Edgarstown bonfire site until tomorrow.
“However, we still plan on demonstrating our support for our Portadown District brethren who remain on Drumcree Hill due to the abject failure of the PSNI to secure their lawful return home.
“We call on all those within our community to come out and show their support at Shillington’s bridge at 7pm tonight, where guest speakers will provide updates on the current situation.”
