Drugs advertised for sale on Co Armagh-based Facebook page

Message to admins of pages to take action and public not to make contact

Police have again asked admins of buy and sell pages to take action after hard drugs were advertised for sale.

A post on the page ‘Buy, Swap, Sell in Portadown and Co, Armagh’ was advertising as having available for sale everything from Diazepam to “coke, weed, cannabis oil” and valium, Ecstasy and others.

Police have advised that it is of course a scam and have warned people not to even consider sending any money – apart from the fact they will get nothing in return they would also be attempting to commit an offence.

The post is in the name of a ‘Njoh’ and a Whatsapp contact is given.

Police say this means that the scammer does not require a phone number, just internet coverage, and could be advertising from “the far side of the world”.

They have asked people not to make contact.

And they have encouraged people in charge of such social media pages to take their own steps to prevent this type of posting.

PSNI Craigavon advised of a few pointers via their own Facebook page.

They urged: “If you’re an admin of these pages, block and report the profile and post to Facebook.

“If you see the post, report the profile and post to Facebook.

“Never send them money.

“If you do, don’t expect sympathy or complain when you lose it or get arrested for conspiracy to import drugs offences.”
