Detectives from the PSNI’s Legacy Investigation Branch have arrested a man in connection with the 1973 murder of Portadown teenager Marian Beattie.
The 18-year-old’s partially-clothed body was found at the bottom of Hadden’s Quarry in Aughnacloy in Co Tyrone on March 31 that year.
Marian had earlier been seen leaving a charity dance in the company of a man.
The alarm was raised when she failed to meet her brother for a lift home.
The suspect, who is in his 70s, was arrested on Thursday, July 2 and is currently in police custody.
No further details have been released at this stage.
