Co Down man remanded in custody over murder of Portadown pensioners

A county Down man appeared in court charged with the murders of a county Armagh couple on Friday.

Thomas Scott McEntee, 40, of Moorfield Court in Kilkeel appeared before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning..

He is accused of violently murdering 83-year-olds Marjorie and Michael Cawdery.

The couple were found dead by their daughter-in-law at the house in Upper Ramone Park on Friday afternoon.

The court heard how McEntee was armed with a knife when he allegedly broke into their home.

McEntee has also been charged with burglary and the theft of the couple’s car, which was found by police a short distance from the scene.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court on June 23.
