The owner of a Portadown café has said she is “very much in shock” as she announces her business has closed due to the “current financial situation”.
Café Chloe has been a popular spot since it opened on West Street over four years ago but on Saturday, March 23, it closed its doors for the last time.
The news was shared in a post on Facebook on Tuesday, with owner Chloe… saying it was with “much heartache” that the doors would not re-open again.
She wrote: “These past four-and-a-half years have been amazing, but also hard at times, especially as we only opened our doors three months before we were closed by the government due to lockdown.
“Since then, the economic climate has been a very hard one to trade through. We are all very aware that the cost of living has increased dramatically – food costs are through the roof – it seems like there wasn’t a week for us, where something didn’t increase in price.
“Because of the current financial situation, our business cannot survive.”
The statement added: “We are still very much in shock and feeling very overwhelmed – Café Chloe was a place we loved with all of our hearts – a little haven serving amazing food. We are devastated that we were not able to say goodbye to so many of you personally – especially to all of our wonderful regular customers. We will miss you so much.
“We have, as a business, been very thankful to each of you who have supported us over these years. We couldn’t have asked for a better team, including Kristy and the girls at Sitara Morgan Boutique who we love dearly.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff – you are all amazing and you have become my closest friends. Your hard work, dedication and commitment have meant more than you will ever know. I love you loads.”
