Another successful year for Mullahead ploughing competition and organisers

Organisers behind the annual Mullahead ploughing competition have been congratulated on another successful event.

The event that attracts a large attendance has become one of the focal points for the agri industry from the UK and Ireland.

Each year there is an immense effort by the organisers to grow the show and add new attractions.

Coming from a farming background the DUP MLA Carla Lockhart has congratulated the organisers and says she is a big supporter of the regional agriculture events across Northern and along side the agricultural shows the ploughing competition takes centre stage.

“I always look forward to this event. I want again to congratulate the organising committee on another successful day,” said Ms Lockhart.

“There was a great atmosphere with many people coming from all over Ireland to participate. This is great for the area and for Northern Ireland as a whole.

“I was delighted to see so many familiar faces and hear their words of encouragement for the work that is being done in the area.

“I have a personal interest in the farming community growing up on a farm and always stay engaged with local farmers on the emerging issues. This week I have a farm safety evening in Bleary Young Farmers hall (1st March at 7.30pm) to discuss the matters affecting farmers in the current climate and I would encourage all to attend.

“A great day out for all who attended and I look forward to assisting the organisers in the year ahead.  I was particularly delighted to meet with the new DAERA Permanent Secretary Mr Denis McMahon at the show and accompany him in listening to some of the issues in the industry at present.”
