Police urge handbag snatch witness to come forward again

Police in Newry are appealing for information after a handbag was stolen from a car in Corn Market.

At around 8pm on Friday, a woman was reversing her silver Opel Meriva car out of a space in Dunnes car park when a man approached the passenger side, opened the door and made off with her black Guess handbag.

“The male got into a dark coloured, southern registered, saloon car which sped off in the direction of Francis Street,” explained Constable Rory Warnock.

“The male is described as being around 6ft tall, in his late 20s with short dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing.

“A passerby approached the female motorist after the incident to say he had witnessed the theft. We would like to hear from this man or anyone who has information which could assist our investigation.

“We can be contacted in Newry on 101, quoting ref: 1178 04/07/15.”
