Police issue description of Newry knife robber and car

Police are hunting for an armed robber who threatened staff at commercial premises in Newry with a knife before fleeing with money.

The robbery happened at around 4.40pm this evening.

A man entered the premises on the Dublin Road, brandishing a knife. A member of staff was forced to open the till and the robber stole cash.

It is believed he left the scene in a black Skoda with a registration number which is believed to have contained the letters CN and the numbers ’02’.

The man was wearing a black hat with a peak, black scarf, black coat, gloves, and blue trainers with white laces.

The member of staff was not injured but left badly shaked.

Sergeant Tony McConville appealed to anyone who can help to get in touch with police in Newry on the non-emergency number 101.
