Police bail for man arrested in connection with murder of Bessbrook pensioner

A man arrested by police investigating the murder of disabled pensioner Eugene Carr has been released on police bail.

The man was arrested in the Newry area yesterday (Wednesday) and taken to Musgrave Police Station in Belfast forv questioning.

Seventy-three-year-old Mr Carr died in November – 10 weeks after he was attacked as he lay in bed.

Police arrested a 30-year-old man on Wednesday morning and carried out searches of two houses in the Newry and Rathfriland areas.

A 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man who were arrested in the Newry area last September in relation to the attack and remain on police bail pending further enquiries.

The man arrested on Wednesday has now been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
