Police appeal after early morning fires in Forkhill and Bessbrook

A 27-year-old man was taken to hospital after a suspected arson attack on a flat in south Armagh earlier today (Wednesday).

It happened in the Church Road area of Forkhill.Fire Engine

Just after 4.20am today, police received the report of a fire at a flat.

The man was taken to hospital and later discharged.

Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact Newtownhamilton Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 175 of 30/12/15. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Meanwhile, police are also appealing for information after a car was burnt out in the Derrymore Road area of Bessbroook.

Just after 1.35am today (Wednesday), police received a report that the vehicle was alight. It was reported that two loud bangs were heard prior to this.

Again, anyone who knows anything about this incident is asked to contact Newtownhamilton Police Station on the non emergency number 101, quoting reference number 83 30/12/15.
