Police and ambulance attend scene of tea-time stabbing in Armagh

It is understood that two people have been involved in a stabbing incident in Armagh this evening (Wednesday).

The incident happened shortly after 5pm.

It is believed to have happened in the area of Linenhall Street.

We are receiving reports that an injured party made his way to Thomas Street and staff of a local shop called for assistance.

Ambulance and police were tasked to the scene.

The injuries parties have been taken to Craigavon Area Hospital.

Injuries are not believed to be serious.

There are no further details at this stage.

Local Sinn Féin Councillor Garath Keating said whilst relieved that no-one seems to have been seriously injured, it was “a worrying incident”.

He told Armagh I: “It appears that no-one has been seriously injured although details are unclear. Hopefully this proves to be a fact.

“However it is a cause of major worry and concern to learn that injuries have happened as the result of a stabbing.”
