Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s planners have recommended the refusal of an application to build 18 new homes to Glenanne.
The multi-million pound project, lodged by agent CDA-NI on behalf of applicant, JRW1, seeks permission to build a housing development consisting of four detached homes, 10 semi-detached homes and four townhouses at lands to the rear and 77m north east of 280 Mowhan Road, Glenanne.
According to the application form, the applicant owns land adjoining the site, which will require the construction of a new access to a public road for both pedestrians and vehicles.
Plans also include the provision of 36 parking spaces, which is currently in use as agricultural land.
The site is not within an area of known flood risk and sewage from the development will be disposed of via a package treatment plant.
However, planners were not happy with the application’s lack of detailed assessments and reasons they have cited for refusal include: “that it has not been demonstrated that: the development respects the surrounding context and is appropriate to the character and topography of the site; landscape features would be protected as part of the proposed development; adequate provision is made for private open space; traffic calming measures have been incorporated; and adequate and appropriate provision is made for parking.”
The case is set for call-in until Thursday, October 24 whereby a member of the planning committee can bring it before chambers to discuss, otherwise, the refusal will stand if it is not called in.
