A pensioner has died in a two car collision in Monaghan this evening.
The 68-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened at around 6.30pm between Monaghan and Clones.
A female driver of the other car sustained minor injuries and has been taken to Cavan General Hospital.
The road remains closed and diversions have been put in place. It is not expected to reopen until tomorrow afternoon.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the road traffic collision to get in touch at Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77200. Alternatively, people can contact the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any other Garda station.
