Six further Covid-related deaths in 24 hours with 27 in total reported over bank holiday weekend

There have been six further Covid-related deaths reported in Northern Ireland in the latest 24-hour period – 27 since Friday.

Since Friday, three of those deaths occurred in the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough with three also in the Mid-Ulster District. Newry, Mourne and Down recorded one additional death in that period.

According to the official dashboard, there were a further 1,313 positive cases reported with 153 in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon. There were 119 positive cases in Newry, Mourne and Down while Mid-Ulster District recorded 90. Belfast had the highest with 248.

A total of 4,335 individuals were tested in that time.

There are 391 people in hospitals across Northern Ireland as a result of the virus, 44 of whom are in intensive care unit.

There are 87 Covid patients in the Southern Trust area, 69 of whom are in Craigavon Area Hospital. There are 12 patients in Daisy Hill.

There are currently six ICU beds available in Northern Ireland.

The total number of deaths now stands at 2,364.

Hospital occupancy currently stands at 103% of capacity.

The Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area accounts for 318 deaths overall; Newry, Mourne and Down District accounts for 181 while Mid-Ulster has registered 220 deaths.
