Greenvale Hotel

The owner of the Greenvale Hotel has submitted plans to demolish the building following the death of three teenagers on March 18.

Michael McElhatton has submitted an application to raze the Cookstown hotel in the wake of the tragedy.

Lauren Bullock (17), Morgan Barnard (17) and 16-year-old Connor Currie, died outside the Cookstown hotel before a St Patrick’s day disco on March 18.

The application was received by the Mid Ulster District Council on Tuesday.

The proposal includes a replacement of five new detached houses and associated garages.

Earlier this week, the Irish News reported a timeline of events on that fateful March night.

It was revealed police responding to the call waited 16 minutes before intervening.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “The investigation into the actions of police at the Greenvale Hotel, Cookstown, on March 17, 2019, is being undertaken by the Office of the Police Ombudsman and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further on the Greenvale incident at this time.”
