One more Covid-19 death as Executive give thumbs up to easing of restrictions from Monday

Coronavirus Social distancing

There has been one more Covid-19 death in Northern Ireland over the past 24 hours, the Department of Health has revealed.

It brings the total total to 535.

The latest figures show 33 new confirmed positive cases of the virus, bringing that total to 4,773.

Meanwhile, the Executive have given the thumbs up to the easing restrictions from Monday, June 8.

Ministers had set aside June 4 (today) for a final decision of the already announced easements.

That move was dependent on the R-number staying below one, which it has done.

It means, from Monday, large retailers including car showrooms and shops in retail parks will be allowed to re-open.

Vulnerable people advised to shield will be allowed outdoors for the first time in weeks and outdoor weddings with 10 people present will be allowed.

Outdoor sports courts, horse trainers and dog groomers can reopen and hotels will be able to take advance bookings, ahead of a planned reopening in July.
