One further Covid-related deaths as hospital numbers increase significantly in 24 hours

There has been one further Covid-related death reported in Northern Ireland in the past past 24 hours.

The total number of deaths now stands at 2,716. That death occurred in the ABC Borough, which now accounts for 371 of those deaths.

There have been 203 deaths in the NMD district, and 252 in Mid Ulster.

There have been a further 1,114 cases recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the Department of Health’s latest daily dashboard update.

There were 108 positive cases in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon – the fourth highest in NI. There were 92 cases in Newry, Mourne and Down, while Mid-Ulster recorded 106. Belfast – the highest in NI – recorded 158 positive cases.

A total of 3,241 individuals were tested in that time.

There are 381 – up 55 – people in hospitals across Northern Ireland as a result of the virus, 36 – no change – of whom are in intensive care units.

There are currently 91 – up 12 – Covid patients in the Southern Trust area, 65 – up 12 – of whom are in Craigavon Area Hospital. There are six ICU beds available across Northern Ireland.

Hospital occupancy in Northern Ireland currently stands at 108% – up 3%.
