Congratulations to the Hyde family from Newtownhamilton who welcomed baby Sam to their family on New Year’s Day.
Little Sam David was officially the first baby born in the Southern Trust, and the third in Northern Ireland.
Mum Susan gave birth to her third child at Craigavon Area Hospital at a tender 1.54am.
He was born weighing 9lb 5oz and is now the younger brother to James and Maggie.
Susan told Armagh I the whole family are “over the moon” and that’s it’s the best start to 2018.
However, little Sam was pipped to the post by baby Kyron Gatley at Altnagavin Hospital.
His mother, Catherine Coyle, from Claudy, wasn’t expecting to give birth until January 25 – a full three weeks ahead of schedule.
Then came Tara Mae Schoeppe, born in the Ulster Hospital at 12.48am.
A happy New Year to all the families and their new borns.
