A new hot food outlet and pizza bar could be on the way to Newtownhamilton.

An application for the new enterprise has been submitted to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council for consideration.

It relates to the premises at 53 Armagh Street, which was known locally as Maggies.

A proposal has been brought forward in the name of Francis Moley, from Crossmaglen.

He is seeking approval for a change of use from the current retail purposes to permit a new hot food takeaway at ground floor level.

Architects plans submitted with the application indicate fryers for traditional fried fast food as well as pizza preparation area and pizza ovens for those who fancy a taste of the Italian!

There is a customer waiting area but the premises is intended for takeaway purposes only with no dining on site.

The application is now with council and open to public consultation before a decision is made in due course.
