Police have said that an update will be given in due course

Motorists are being asked to avoid the Tullyah Road area of Belleeks in south Armagh after reports of a school bus having been involved in a collision.

Emergency services are at the scene of what is being described as a serious road incident between Newtownhamilton and Camlough,  this afternoon (Tuesday).

There are reports of a school bus, carrying dozens of children, on its side.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Please avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

“An update will be issued in due course.”

Newry and Armagh MLA Aoife Finnegan MLA said her thoughts were with all involved.

She added: “I understand an incident occurred earlier today involving a school bus travelling from St Paul’s on the Tullyah Road in the Whitecross area.

“I am relieved to hear that no children were hurt.

“I want to thank the emergency services for their swift and professional response and ask that the privacy of those affected be respected.”
