A Newtownhamilton farmer is offering a financial reward for the safe return of a large quantity of cattle he believes to have been stolen from his land.
The farmer – who wished to remain anonymous – told Armagh I he suspects the cattle to have been taken some time between Sunday (May 24) and Bank Holiday Monday (May 25).
The cattle – a mix of Charolais and Angus – were all “large” bullocks and had been kept in the McCullagh Road area just off the Dundalk Road.
While he did not wish to include the exact number of missing cattle, it would be highly unlikely this quantity of livestock would have escaped their field unseen and not been returned – even in part – by this stage.
Tracks on the road, where the cattle had walked, were also visible when the farmer attended the field to check on his stock.
The incident has been reported to the police and both the PSNI and farmer are appealing for any information that may lead to their return.
Anyone with any information should contact PSNI via 101.
