Newsletter: Our scam story concludes with a happy ending…

Good morning and welcome to your Tuesday morning newsletter. And a special welcome to all the newcomers among you who now make up more than 9,000 newsletter readers.

Among all the doom and gloom there are still some positive people and stories lurking. We thought we would lift one benevolent person up onto a pedestal this morning.

On Saturday, we published a story urging the public to be vigilant to online market scams after one local woman lost £40 to the ploy.

It wasn’t a large amount of money but she felt it was the principle more than anything and spoke out with the intention of warning others not to fall into the trap.

Here’s the good part – the story prompted organisers of the Lurgan Show to reach out in the Facebook comments section, offering to ‘look after’ the out-of-pocket vendor.

We put the two in touch and understand that the woman is now very much looking forward to attending the show on June 1. Hurrah!

A touching gesture that we are sure meant a great deal. Maybe it’s not always hard-hitting news – but sometimes the little voices need to be amplified.
