A woman who made a “rude hand gesture” at police has been issued with a fine and penalty points after it was discovered she was uninsured.
While returning to Belfast from an incident in Newry, Armed Response officers were patrolling the A1 and passed a car where the driver made the hand gesture towards police.
The vehicle was then stopped and the female occupant – who had two young children in the car – was determined to be driving without a valid insurance policy.
A ticket was issued at the roadside and the driver will now face a £200 fine and six penalty points.
A police spokesperson added: “Armed Response cover the whole of Northern Ireland and alongside their usual duties, they patrol our major road networks keeping them safe.”
