A body has been found on the shore outside Warrenpoint this morning (Thursday).
Police say they are currently in attendance at a report of a sudden death in the Rostrevor Road area of Warrenpoint.
While there are no further details at this stage, Independent Councillor Mark Gibbons says he has spoken to police at the scene.
“God love the poor person and family,” he said. “An awful sight for anyone to come across. No identification has been made for obvious reasons.
“Please stay away from the area if possible. Very distressing.”
While police are carrying out their investigations the person’s death is not thought to be suspicious at this stage.
