Tributes to ‘beautiful and kind’ Killeavy mother-of-two who passed away after long battle with illness

Tributes have poured in following the sad and untimely passing of a south Armagh mother-of-two this week.

Lisa Owens, from Seafin Road in Killeavy, passed away on Tuesday following a long battle with illness.

She was the beloved wife of Peadar and loving mummy of Emma and Hannah.

Her passing has led to an outpouring of tributes to a woman so highly thought-of in the south Armagh and Newry community.

Lisa, described as “a truly special lady with the biggest smile and even bigger heart”, had such a caring nature and will be remembered fondly for it.

Many will remember her from Meigh pre-school and one parent recalled: “An absolute lady taken too soon. I remember Lisa fondly when she worked at Meigh Preschool…so caring and gentle with the children – they adored her.”

Many others wrote of Lisa’s beautiful personality.

“Heaven has gained a precious angel,” one person wrote. “A wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and a dear friend to so many. A very special lady who will be very sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.”

One woman commented: “Lisa was a truly lovely warm and caring person whom we shall never forget.”

“The saddest news, Lisa you were the kindest, most gentle and lovely of souls,” posted another.

An “inspirational lady”; a “lovely, wonderful person who was so friendly and courageous”.

Lisa left an indelible mark on the many people she encountered and her memory will live long among those who were fortunate to know her. While her passing will be felt across the community, it will be hardest felt within her family – and our thoughts are with them at this sad time.

Lisa’s remains will repose at her home on Wednesday, September 25 and Thursday, September 26 from 12 noon until 9pm each day. A one way traffic system will be in operation for the duration of the wake. A shuttle bus will run from Killeavy GAC from 5pm until 9pm on both evenings.

House private on Friday. Lisa’s remains will be removed from her home on Friday (September 27) at 1.15pm, arriving for Requiem Mass at 2pm in St Joseph’s church, Meigh. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Very deeply regretted by her loving husband, daughters, mother Ruby, siblings Caroline, Annmarie, Cathy and Robert, mother-in-law Brigid, brothers-in-law Gareth, John, Colin, Liam, Michael and Pat, sister-in-law Fiona, Robert’s partner Janice, nephews, nieces and extended family circle and friends.

May she rest in peace.
