Successful ‘Drive into Light’ event in Newry raises almost £2,000 for PIPS

'Mental health is something that affects everyone, and we wanted to make sure that the message of support and awareness came through loud and clear'

PIPS Hope and Support have received a generous £1,905,35 donation from Petrolhedz following their successful ‘Drive into Light’ event in Newry.

The event brought together car enthusiasts and community members for an evening of fun, all in support of raising awareness for mental health and suicide prevention—key causes championed by PIPS Hope and Support.

Many participants turned out to show their support, making it a truly memorable occasion. The stunning array of vehicles on display, combined with the enthusiastic crowd, created a positive and energetic atmosphere that underscored the event’s core message: the importance of supporting mental health initiatives.

Padraig Harte, Fundraising, Marketing, and Communications Manager with PIPS Hope and Support, expressed his gratitude to Petrolhedz for their donation.

He stated: “We are incredibly thankful for this donation. The funds raised will go a long way in supporting the vital services we provide to individuals and families dealing with the challenges of mental health issues and suicide.

“Events like Drive into Light not only help us raise essential funds but also raise awareness, which is crucial in the fight against the stigma.”

PIPS have offered a special thanks to Brian and Kelly, who organised the event and were instrumental in its success.

Brian shared his thoughts on the success of the event: “We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved with this event. It was amazing to see the community come together for such an important cause.

“Mental health is something that affects everyone, and we wanted to make sure that the message of support and awareness came through loud and clear.

“Raising £1,905.35 for PIPS Hope and Support means so much to us, knowing it will go towards helping people in our community who need it most. Our thanks and appreciation to the many sponsors who supported the logistics of the event.”

The donation will directly support PIPS Hope and Support’s range of services, including crisis counselling, suicide prevention training, and outreach programmes aimed at promoting mental health and wellbeing within the local community.

With the increasing demand for services, donations like this enable the charity to expand its reach and provide timely support to those most in need.
