Significant progress in Cloughogue traffic calming scheme welcomed

'This is an extremely busy road which has been a major concern for the local community, and they are very pleased this work is finally moving forward'

Sinn Féin MLA Liz Kimmins has described a recent meeting with DFI officials as a “significant step forward” in the progress of a planned traffic calming scheme for Park View in Cloughogue.

Speaking following a meeting organised by Ms Kimmins and her colleague, Cllr Cathal King with residents and DFI officials in Killeavey GAA Club, the Newry/Armagh MLA said: “For over ten years now Sinn Féin have been working to deliver much needed traffic calming measures for Park View in Cloughogue.

“Park View is a heavily built up area with lots of children and young people living here so it is really welcome that the design of the scheme is now being finalised and is on track to be completed this year.

“Local residents living along this stretch of road had an opportunity at the meeting to see the planned scheme and raise questions directly with officials which has been very useful.

“This is an extremely busy road which has been a major concern for the local community, and they are very pleased this work is finally moving forward.

“The scheme will improve safety for both pedestrians and motorists, and I will continue to work with DFI and residents to see this completed as soon as possible.”
