Police receive reports of suspicious object left near rail line at Newry

Police have received a number of reports in relation to a suspicious object being left in the vicinity of the railway line at Camlough Road, Newry.

Chief Inspector Ian Campbell said nothing untoward had been found.

But he added: “We would urge the public to be vigilant especially in the Egyptian Arch area, Camlough Road area and Millvale area.

“If you notice anything which looks out of place or suspicious, do not approach or touch it, but contact police at Newry straight away on the non-emergency number 101 or 999 in an emergency.

“We would like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to these reports. We can be contacted in Newry on 101.”
