Police hunt man after ‘incident’ in Newry city centre

Police have warned the public not to approach a man after an “incident” in Newry.

The PSNI said the matter was ongoing.

No further details are being provided at this stage about what exactly has happened.

But a PSNI spokesperson said this morning (Thursday) that the incident happened in the greater Newry area last night.

As a result, the police were seeking a man wearing a grey hoody and black trousers.

A spokesperson said: “If you observed anything suspicious at around 9:50pm in the city centre please call us on 101 and quote ref 1342 07/09/16.”

Police also warned anyone seeing a male matching the description not to approach him but call them on the emergency number 999.
