Partner calls off wedding after nurse’s drunken antics at Belfast airport

A Newry nurse’s drunken antics at a Belfast airport left her partner calling off their upcoming wedding, a court has heard.

Shauna Quinn, 34, from The Blackthorns in Newry, could also lose her job following the incident at Belfast International Airport earlier this year.

The Newry woman pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour, two counts of assaulting police officers and one charge of common assault on an airport worker.

The incident in questioned happened just after 6am on August 21, this year.

Antrim Magistrates’ Court heard how Quinn had been acting in an unruly manner around fellow passengers and staff.

And when she grabbed a member of staff, airport police were called to calm the situation down.

However, she continued to be aggressive towards police and was taken into custody were there was little change in her behaviour.

The court heard how she was extremely regretful and embarrassed by her actions, and that her fiancé had called off their upcoming wedding.

She was also going through a disciplinary hearing at her place of work following her arrest.

 

Quinn on 12 months’ probation and ordering her to serve 60 hours of community service.

She was also fined £150 for disorderly behaviour.
