More than £10,000 has been raised in a matter of days for the family of six-year-old Kourtney Khloe McCormick, who was tragically killed in a road traffic collision on Sunday (June 21) in Newry.
Described by her sister, Jasmine as the “happiest, loving wee girl the world has ever seen“, Kourtney had just turned six years old when he was sadly killed following a collision involving a black Ford Tourneo van in the Springfarm Heights area on Sunday evening, June 21.
She was immediately transported to hospital where she sadly succumbed to her injuries in the arms of her heartbroken mum and dad.
Kourtney was the “baby of the house” and doted on by all around her. Her untimely death has left an indescribable void in their lives.
A death notice described her as the loving daughter of Rosina and Paul, treasured sister of Katie, Shane, Jasmine, Mya, Zac and Georgia and cherished granddaughter of Gerry and Johann (Cunningham) and Pat and the late Moira R.I.P.
She will be laid to rest in Monkshill cemetery on Saturday (June 27) following a Mass of the Angels in St. Brigid’s Church at 11am. Mourners have been asked to wear bright colours in her memory.
In the days since her passing, the community in Newry have rallied around her grieving family, supporting them in all and any ways they can.
After speaking with the McCormick family, Francine Ruddy from Martins Lane Area Community Association launched a GoFundMe appeal to help ease the financial burden.
The fundraising appeal reads, “Heartbreak has gripped the Newry community following the tragic passing of six-year-old Kourtney Khloe McCormick.
“Kourtney sadly lost her life after being struck by a van in the Springfarm Heights area of Newry on Sunday evening. She was taken to hospital but, despite the efforts of emergency services, sadly passed away from her injuries.
